Housing & Stability
Stable housing is the foundation of successful reentry. We meet you at release — and stay with you until the lease is yours.
An Address Changes Everything
Without a stable place to sleep, nothing else holds. Employment falls apart, parole violations stack up, and medication regimens collapse. Housing is the single biggest predictor of whether reentry sticks — and it is the first thing we secure.
We help secure immediate shelter from night one, place participants in transitional housing programs, and walk alongside them into a permanent lease through our partnerships with second-chance landlords and Maryland housing authorities.
Get Housing HelpWhat We Provide
Every step from emergency shelter to permanent housing — and the help to keep it
Emergency Shelter Placement
A safe bed from night one. We coordinate with shelter partners across the region so no one is released without a destination.
Transitional Housing
3- to 12-month placements with wraparound support — case management, life skills, and a runway to permanent housing.
Permanent Housing Search
Help finding a unit, completing applications, and translating the rental process — with a network of second-chance landlords.
Deposit & First Month Help
Grant-funded assistance with security deposit, first month, and application fees — the costs that derail most reentry leases.
Landlord Mediation
Direct advocacy with landlords on background checks, lease terms, and rent disputes — before they become evictions.
12-Month Retention Support
Monthly check-ins for a full year after move-in. Catching rent shortfalls, conflicts, or crises before they turn into eviction notices.
The Housing Journey
From release day to keys in hand to long-term stability
Pre-Release Planning
We connect with you before release whenever possible. Identifying your destination, confirming ID and documents, and reserving a bed for the first night.
Emergency Shelter (Night 1–30)
A safe, immediate bed through our shelter network. Daily check-ins, basic needs met, and a plan for what comes next.
Transitional Housing (Month 1–12)
A longer-term placement with on-site support and structure. Time to stabilize employment, finances, and family connections before signing a private lease.
Permanent Housing Search
Working a unit search with our landlord network, completing applications, navigating background checks, and securing deposit + first-month assistance.
Move-In & Mediation
Keys in hand. We help with utility setup, renter's insurance, and being the first call when something goes sideways with the landlord.
12-Month Retention
Monthly check-ins for a year. Most evictions are preventable if we catch them in week one of a crisis — that is the job.
Industry Benchmarks We Aim to Match or Beat
Targets drawn from HUD reentry research, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, and the Urban Institute's "Returning Home" study
Housed Within 30 Days
Target placement rate for participants engaged pre-release.
12-Month Housing Retention
Retain stable housing one year after permanent move-in.
Reduction in Recidivism
Stably housed reentrants reoffend at dramatically lower rates than the unhoused.
ID + Documents in 60 Days
State ID, Social Security card, and birth certificate in hand — the keys to any lease.
Landlord-Screened Approvals
Pass screening with second-chance landlords through advocacy and prep.
